zephbox vs. Guerrilla Mail: Privacy, Speed, and API Comparison

Guerrilla Mail has one feature almost no other temp mail provider offers: you can send mail from the disposable address, not just receive it. That's a genuinely different capability, and it changes what kind of tool it actually is: not just a receive-only mailbox, but something closer to a full throwaway email account.

Why zephbox doesn't do this, on purpose

Send capability on a disposable address is also an open invitation to abuse. Anyone can spin up a free sending address and use it for spam, phishing, or harassment with zero accountability, since the address is gone in hours anyway. zephbox is deliberately receive-only for exactly this reason: it keeps the product usable for its actual purpose (verification codes, signup confirmations, avoiding spam in your real inbox) without becoming an anonymous spam-sending tool as a side effect. If you need to send mail from an alias too, that's genuinely a different product category. See our post on whether you can reply from a temp address for the fuller version of this trade-off.

Privacy model

Guerrilla Mail inboxes are, like Mailinator's, accessible to anyone who knows the address; there's no private ownership on the free tier. zephbox aliases are scoped to the device or account that generated them from the start. If privacy matters for what you're doing, that's the more consequential difference, more so than send capability for most use cases.

Speed and reliability

Both services deliver mail quickly under normal conditions. Where zephbox differentiates is in what happens after delivery: OTP and verification-code extraction built into the API response (not just the raw email body you have to parse yourself), webhooks for push notification of new mail, and Gmail/Outlook-style domain options for platforms that filter obvious disposable domains.

Which to pick

If you specifically need to send from the disposable address, testing a two-way email flow for instance, Guerrilla Mail's send capability is a real reason to use it. For everything else (signups, OTP testing, avoiding spam, anything where receive-only is fine) zephbox's private-by-default model and API-first design are the better fit.
