Email Forwarding for Disposable Addresses: Get OTPs Without Losing Your Real Inbox

A fully disposable address solves the spam problem perfectly, but it creates a new one. If a service you actually want to keep using sends something to that address after it's expired, it's gone, and you have no way to get it back. Forwarding is the middle ground: keep the disposable-address privacy benefit for the signup itself, while still receiving anything that address gets, indefinitely, in a real inbox you check.

How it actually works

Enable forwarding on a zephbox alias and specify a real address to relay to. Every message the alias receives is stored normally (same as any other alias) and also relayed to your forwarding address. You get both the disposable-address benefit at signup and continued access to anything sent there later, without needing to keep checking the temp inbox itself.

Why this isn't just "use your real email from the start"

The whole point of a disposable address is what happens at the moment of signup. Your real address never gets handed to the service in the first place, so it can't be harvested, sold, or leaked in a breach tied directly to you. Forwarding preserves exactly that: the service only ever sees the disposable alias. What changes is what happens to mail after that point. Instead of it living only in a temp inbox that eventually expires, it also reaches an inbox you'll actually see.

Where this is the right call

A service you're trying out but might actually stick with: you get privacy during evaluation, continuity if you decide to keep it. Any account where a breach down the line is a real (if small) risk, and you want that risk contained to a disposable address rather than your primary inbox. Situations where you want plausible separation, "this account's mail goes here," without losing access to what arrives.

The abuse-prevention side, briefly

Any feature that relays mail on a user's behalf is a potential spam vector if left unchecked, so forwarding is rate-limited per account and sent from a dedicated relay address — never a receiving domain, which would risk that domain's reputation for actual mail delivery, not just disposable-inbox receiving. This is a Premium-tier feature specifically because it needs that kind of infrastructure and monitoring behind it, not a simple toggle.
